Dr Azzam Tamimi on the assassination of Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh

“The fact that this assassination happened while Ismail Haniyeh was visiting Tehran is very embarrassing for the Iranians. However, from the point of view of Hamas, this will only increase the determination of the movement,” Dr. Azzam Tamimi tells MEE, about the assassination of the Hamas leader, early on Wednesday morning. “Within Islamic culture in particular, martyrdom is not a failure,” he added. Dr. Azzam Tamimi, speaking from Jordan, is a British Palestinian academic and political activist. He is the author of ‘Hamas: Unwritten Chapters’ and ‘Hamas: A History from Within’.
