This idea is kind of old now, I think I came up with this in the middle of 2022. And I actually played this lick in one of my earlier videos, called Bluesy Idea.

That was back when I just started to post 1-2 times a week. I had a lot fewer subs than I do now, and that video is one of my least-viewed on the channel.
So, I was hoping I could give that old idea some more life by doing tabs, since the original video did not have tabs. This lick is not too difficult to play and I think it sounds pretty cool. There’s syncopation in the first two measures, 7 plus 9 sixteenth notes. The lick is based on the A minor pentatonic scale, with an added flat 5th (blues scale), and I’m also including the major 7th. Then I end with an A7 chord, which has the major 3rd, C#. As far as I understand blues, the point is to switch between major and minor (same note, not relative major/minor). And you want to emphasize the minor vs major 3rd. In this case, C vs C#. It’s definitely outside of my comfort zone a bit, as I usually play metal or rock. I’ve been trying to add more chromatics to my playing over the last several years.
