Bach - Oboe concerto in D minor BWV 1059R - López Paz | Netherlands Bach Society

*Please note: this is an improved version of an earlier release. The audio mix has been improved. A work by Bach presumably unknown to many – for us too - as Bach left behind only a very brief sketch of this concerto, of just nine bars. However, these nine bars do correspond to another piece: the ‘Sinfonia’ of the cantata Geist und Seele wird verwirret (BWV 35). And that’s where this reconstruction – recorded here for All of Bach with oboist Rodrigo López Paz – finds its basis. For the middle movement we have opted for the famous Adagio from the oboe concerto by Alessandro Marcello, which is an audience favourite nowadays, but was also greatly admired by Bach.
