(21 Mar 1996) T/I: 11:08:22 An angry and embittered group of Croatian Serb refugees shouted abuse and stoned the motorcade of Madeleine Albright, US Ambassador to the UN, during her tour of the war-shattered town of Vukovar in Eastern Slavonia on Thursday afternoon (21/3). The US envoy flew in on Thursday morning into Erdut, accompanied by the US Ambassador to Croatia Peter Galbraith, and the UNTAES administrator Jacques Paul Klein. But as Ambassador Albright visited the local marketplace in Vukovar, she was forced to cut short her round as she was mobbed by a crowd of Croatian Serb refugees shouting “bitch“ and “fascist“. SHOWS:
