1952 24 Hours of Le Mans

During the 20th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans a gentleman named Pierre Levegh tried to race the entire 24 hours solo. He almost won in his Talbot-Lago, unfortunately, he was so tired during the 24th hour that he missed a shift and broke a rod in his engine. Hermann Lang and Fritz Riess would go on to win in their Mercedes-Benz W194 along with the Mercedes-Benz W194 driven by Theo Helfrich & Helmut Niedermayr taking second place.
