Barrackpore Avenue Women’s Cultural & Social Welfare Society | Mercury Phoenix Trust

Barrackpore Avenue Women’s Cultural & Social Welfare Society is a fully women-led voluntary organisation founded in 2002. Based in Kolkata, West Bengal, their vision is to “Bring smiles to sad lips“ irrespective of class, caste, creed or gender. Their main focus is on vulnerable, marginalised and minority women (especially those from the red light areas), children and the elderly from the brickfield industries and slums. Programmes include HIV/AIDS prevention, women empowerment via skill building and income generation programmes. They work in close association with the police and local administration as a service provider for the victims of domestic violence, something which took a long time to achieve. All of their projects are carefully designed to improve the quality of life and restore back lost dignity to their targeted beneficiaries. #MPT #FreddieMercury Subscribe to the official Mercury Phoenix Trust Channel here: Subscribe to official Freddie Mercury Channel: Subscribe to official Queen Channel: Watch more of Queen: Watch more of Freddie Mercury: About Mercury Phoenix Trust: The Mercury Phoenix Trust was founded by Brian May, Roger Taylor and their manager Jim Beach in memory of rock band Queen’s iconic lead singer Freddie Mercury who died in 1991 from AIDS related causes.
