YAMATAI 邪馬台 - O-daiko 大太鼓 (PULSE 2019)

“O-daiko“ (meaning “big taiko“) is a style pioneered by renowned taiko artist Eitetsu Hayashi. This solo is written by, and features Chloé Le Moing. 「大太鼓」は、著名な太鼓アーティストである林英哲によって確立されたスタイルです。このソロは、クロイ・レ・モワン（Chloé Le Moing）が作曲し、演奏しています。 —— Yamatai is Cornell University’s one and only taiko group. Founded in 2006, Yamatai is energetically developing its individual style as a relatively young taiko team. Our current repertoire consists of pieces written by Bonten (a professional taiko group in Japan), traditional and community taiko pieces, as well as original compositions by Yamatai members and alumni. Through rigorous study and training, Yamatai seeks to explore musical possibilities of taiko drumming in contemporary adaptations while respecting the origins of the traditional art.
