Lord Kelvin’s Thunderstorm

With common materials found at home and the hardware store, Grand Rapids’ Maker Matthew Gryczan demonstrates’ that you can make a battery that generates about 20,000 volts of electricity with nothing more than dripping water as the energy source. Called Lord Kelvin’s Thunderstorm after its inventor, the battery amazes people that water drops can cause sparks of electricity to jump more than 5 mm.
