Hanover Zoo regularly presents Asian elephants in circus-like shows to attract visitors. Even baby elephants are regularly taken to a separate facility next to their enclosure where trainers torture them repeatedly with bull hooks – sticks with sharp metal hooks at the end – hidden from visitors’ eyes.
