Ooty Toy Train

“Remember that happiness is a way of travel, not a destination.” Ooty toy train or the Nilgiri Mountain Railway has been designated as a UNESCO Heritage site in the year 2005. The train ride starts at from Mettupalyam and ends around 12 PM in Ooty or Udagamandalam. The Nilgiri Mountain Train traverses a distance of 26 km, goes through 208 curves, 16 tunnels, and across 250 bridges. The uphill journey takes around 4.8 hours and the downhill takes 3.6 hours. The Nilgiri Mountain route stretches over 10 stations. They are namely, 1. Kallar Station – Presently closed as a tourist or passenger station. 2. Adderly Station – Mostly used as a water stop, this is also now closed. 3. Hillgrove station – A station for providing refreshments to passengers 4. Runnymede Station –Again closed presently, mostly getting used as water stop. 5. Kateri Road Station – Trains do not stop here, i.e. this is a no halt station. 6.
