Todd Sharpville - Medication Time

Album: Medication Time | | Download: | Lyrics: So patiently I’ll be your patient, Sedately I’ll do my time I’ve learned my place, and I know my station started the race and fell behind Hand me my gown show me my room No waiting round, I’ll need it soon And “soon” is now, I’ve seen the signs I’m ready for my medication time... Sometimes a man can’t ease the craving Somebody hide me from it all My sanity is way past saving So bounce me from your padded walls The world around me is looking hazy My head keeps pounding, I done gone crazy A safe retreat will suit me fine I’m ready for my medication time... The guy next door, he’s more messed up than me He’s crying in room 101, I’m smiling in room 103 I’m tired of watching the clock drag that second hand Won’t someone break the glass and free all this sand? So trustingly I’ll drink your potion For therapy, I’ll eat your pills Baptise my sins on distant oceans Come euthanise my precious ills My arms are bound, my feet are chained Lobotomise this aching brain Come pull the cork, cut me a line I’m ready for my medication time I’m ready for my medication time I’m ready for my medication time.. @ToddSharpvilleOfficial has been the face of the English Blues for 30 years already. His debut album “Touch Of Your Love” released in 1992 on Red Lightin Records won “Best Album” and “Best Guitarist” awards at the British Blues Awards, marking the start of his international career during which Todd and his band played on nearly every blues stage and festival around the world. The long-awaited new album from British Blues/Americana stalwart Todd Sharpville. “Medication Time” explores a period in his life, 16 years ago, when a custody battle after a difficult breakup ended in a two-month hospitalization in a specialist institute in Wales. “I was not emotionally ready to be separated from my children after the divorce. Until now I was kind of ’control freak’, then I realized that control is just an illusion after being hit with depression, suicidal thoughts and being committed to an institution run by the state. Men rarely discuss these kinds of emotions with each other and these emotions can often surprise us and prove to be far too much to handle. Being a musician, I was lucky enough to be able to manage my professional life around my complicated situation. I also have great friends. I managed to get back on my feet. Most people are not so lucky. Many fall to the side of the road and never get up. “Medication Time” examines and expresses many of these emotions that led to my depression, my stay in the hospital and this slow return to “normality”. 12 hard-hitting tracks (9 original songs and 3 eccentric covers) recorded in West Greenwich, Rhode Island and produced by Duke Robillard, 2-time Grammy nominee and multiple BMA winner.
