Nectivory & guarding behaviour by an Orsima ichneumon jumping spider

Observations of foraging and silk-laying behaviour on extra-floral nectaries by Orsima ichneumon jumping spiders. After foraging on the nectaries, the spider waves his abdomen from side to side, in a figure of eight pattern, laying silk around the nectary. The function of this behaviour is not yet known, but may serve to deter ants from visiting the same nectaries. This video links to our paper in Frontiers in Ecology & Environment
