Linda Saxone - Love is a Many Splendored Thing (1964)

An incredible recording featuring an epic version of the popular song. Linda has a powerful voice, the arrangement is out of this world and I love the cutesy girl chorus in the background. Should have been a major hit, but it didn’t even chart, even though it was released as a single in the UK in March 1964, and in the US in May 1964. Song is the theme of the movie of the same name, starring Jennifer Jones and William Holden, and it charted in Billboard for many artists in 1955: #1 for the Four Aces, #54 for David Rose and His Orchestra, #26 for Don Cornell, #79 for Woody Herman and His Orchestra and #96 for Don, Dick & Jimmy. Later, it charted at #32 on the Adult Contemporary chart for Barry Manilow in 2006. Written by Sammy Fain & Paul Francis Webster. Title in the UK is “Love is a Many Splendoured Thing“. B-side is “The Other Side of the Street“.
