KÁROLY LOTZ – Hungarian Painter – Prince of Hungarian Artists (HD)

Karoly Lotz, was born on December 16th, 1833 in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe, Germany, the 7th and youngest surviving child of Wilhelm Christian Lotz and Antonia Höfflick. His father was a valet for Prince Gustav zu Hessen-Homburg, during the time when the prince was representing Austria at the Congress of Vienna, The sudden death of the young Baron von Sinclair forced Wilhelm Christian Lotz temporarily into that position. While in Hungary in 1815 Wilhelm met 13-year-old Antonia Höfflick, whom he married three years later. She gave birth to 8 children, of whom Karl was the youngest. Karoly’s father, Wilhelm died in 1837. Karoly Lotz was only 4 years of age at that time. Mother, Antonia moved the family to Pest, Hungary, where she was originally from. Pest is the largest part of Budapest, Hungary. Budapest was and still is a gorgeous city with two very distinct sides separated by the Danube River: Buda is on the west and Pest on the East.
