Israeli Member of Knesset calls for a second Nakba to take place

“Right now, one goal: Nakba! A Nakba that will overshadow the Nakba of 48.” Israeli Member of Knesset, Ariel Kallner called for a second Nakba to take place via X, formerly known as Twitter, amidst intensifying airstrikes between Palestinian fighters and Israeli forces on Saturday night and the early hours of Sunday thus far. Nakba, meaning “the catastrophe“ in Arabic, is marked on 15 May and commemorates the displacement, depopulation and despair of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, during the establishment of the Israeli state in 1948. In the early hours of Saturday, scores of Palestinian fighters crossed from the besieged Gaza Strip into Israel by land, sea, and air, seizing control of towns and kibbutzim with shocking ease. As thousands of rockets rained down on Israel, Hamas announced its operation, calling on all Palestinian factions and their allies to rise up. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared a state of war, and soon after, Israeli air strikes began to pound the Gaza Strip. So far, the Israeli and Palestinian death tolls currently stand at nearly 300 Israelis killed and at least 232 Palestinians killed, with more than a thousand injured on both sides Subscribe to our channel: Middle East Eye Website: Follow us on TikTok: @middleeasteye Follow us on Instagram: Like us on Facebook: Follow us on Twitter:
