3HP Diesel Mini Bike Demo

This video features a diesel mini bike built by Don Giandomenico in June of 2021. The bike was built around an imported Jintian / Changchai 3HP single cylinder air-cooled diesel engine. The 60 pound cast iron engine has a displacement of 199cc and produces 3HP @ 2600 RPM. The bike is capable of 25 - 30 MPH and has a range of 45 miles with a .68 gallon tank (65 MPG). The custom exhaust header was fabricated out of 1“ 304 stainless tubing as well as the intake horn. The primary belt drive has a “ pulley running a 3.5“ pulley for a 1-1.3 ratio providing up to 3600 RPM to the clutch. The clutch engages around 2100 RPM and drives a 1-5 ratio chain and sprocket drive to turn the Kenda tires. A 30 watt alternator (repurposed NEMA 23 stepper motor) powers up the LED headlight, taillight and horn. The fuel tank was built from 4“ EMT steel conduit and can supply up to two hours fuel for heavy riding. The 70’s style frame (unknown manufacturer) was modified to withstand the vibr
