Cronutt MRI

Cronutt, our sea lion, came to live with us after stranding three times and being deemed non-releasable. Other facilities were not interested in housing him because he had a seizure and was believed to be exposed to domoic acid toxins. We happily welcomed him into our family and have made a commitment to learning more about how these toxins impact wild populations. Domoic acid toxins can affect the brain. Today we took Cronutt to UC Berkeley for an MRI to scan his brain. The results demonstrated that he is a healthy guy! We also gathered important information regarding sea lion brains from his scan. Cronutt’s MRI will help other animals, both in the wild and in human care in the future!! #makingadifference
