Марш защитников Москвы (March Of The Defenders Of Moscow) is a Soviet patriotic song written in 1941 by Alexey Surkov and composed by Boris Mokrousov. The song was written in response to the start of Operation Typhoon and the attempts by Nazi Germany to take the Soviet capital of Moscow. The battle would last for 3 months, ending in January of 1942 proving to be a grave defeat for the Nazi Army and proving to the world that the Third Reich was not invincible. It was due to the heroic actions of the defenders of Moscow, Stalingrad and Leningrad, their tireless dedication to duty and lack of fear in the face of death that the tides of the war were turned and the fascist scum was sent on the retreat, never to gain the upper hand again.
