гавиаловый крокодил/Giant false gharial crocodile released into the wild!

Would you get this close to a 3-metre-long crocodile? 🐊 Recently, working with local government officials BKSDA, we helped translocate a giant false gharial crocodile (also known as tomistoma) from a local village to the safety of the Lamandau Wildlife Reserve. Her owner, a fisherman, caught the reptile in his net during the dry season of 2015 and decided to keep her in a concrete water pit for the next 6 years. Fed on a diet primarily of chicken, the crocodile grew and grew until she was finally handed over and released back into the wild. We love when we can help offer wildlife kept in captivity a second chance at freedom, but it’s important that we continue to share our message that all wild animals belong in the wild.
