Rostov-on-Don - the southern capital of Russia

Rostov-on-Don was built by decree of Empress Elizabeth (the daughter of Peter the Great), as an important strategic settlement in southern Russia. Now Rostov-on-Don is the largest city in the south of Russia, where more than 2 million people live. Rostov-on-Don is a large administrative, cultural, scientific, educational, industrial center and the most important transportation hub in southern Russia. The city has preserved many beautiful buildings. We walked along the central streets of the city, the embankment of the Don River and talked to the locals.
