Full title reads: “Air Pioneer of Empire. Unparalleled scenes of enthusiasm as Alan Cobham arrives after his 13,000 mile flight from London“. Melbourne, Australia. L/S of aeroplane landing. As the plane lands on a field a vast crowd runs towards it. Scene looks chaotic; some of crowd almost get caught under wing of plane as it taxis. A policeman on a white horse tried to keep control. Intertitle reads: “Cheering, surging ... but quite unmanageable ... crowd of 150,000 swept away all ’official’ reception arrangements“. Various L/Ss of surging crowd, they almost engulf aeroplane.
