More than 140K viruses discovered in human gut

Biochemists at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory’s Bioinformatics Institute and the Wellcome Sanger Institute recently compiled a database called the Gut Phage Database, or GPD, which has identified more than 140,000 spcies of viruses that live in the human gut, more than half of which were previous unknown. The Resident believes this to be perhaps the most important scientific discovery for human health and mental wellbeing ever made.
