. Colonels For A Day (1956)

Weathersfield, Essex. Group of children visit Weathersfield Air Base to be honorary Colonels for a day after winning a competition. M/S of child in flying helmet climbing steps into a plane cockpit. Pilot explains the controls to the young boy. Little girl climbs up steps to the cockpit. Parents look on as flying helmet is put on. Various shots of the 3 children who have won this prize being shown various planes. They go for a “taxi ride“ around the base in a liaison plane piloted by Major Peebles. Three mothers wave off their children as the plane taxis around the base. American children look on enviously as these prize winners get a special ringside seat at a firefighting display. An old aircraft is burnt for the occasion. Various shots of the children watching an aircraft on fire. Short shot of . (United States Air Force) personnel dressed in firefighting gear.
