As Deep Purple were on their first reunion tour back in 1985, they strangely enough were not invited by Bob Geldof to participate at now legendary “concert for Africa“ called “LIVE AID“. Geldof returned 20 years later with a similar idea of doing “live aid“ type concerts in 8 countries, therefore the name of the festival was “Live 8“. This time around Purple were invited performing at the probably most hard rocking stage of the festival in Barrie in Canada.
