Cancelled after only a few episodes aired in 1982, the show’s creators, Jerry Zucker, Jim Abrahams and David Zucker (Airplane, Top Secret), kept the faith long enough to get the series remounted as a feature film, The Naked Gun. The series stars Leslie Nielsen and Alan North, while George Kennedy joined the film series. The pronunciation of the Zucker brothers’ name is as close as I can get to how they introduce themselves on their DVD commentary tracks. They don’t pronounce their own name to rhyme with ’sucker.’
