Catastrophic flood in Italy! Nobody expected such a horror! Ancona

Torrential rain falling late on Thursday caused rivers and streams to overflow and inundate coastal towns around the regional capital of Ancona. The force of the storm has caused numerous landslides and formed large torrents of water and mud that have devastated several towns in the province of Ancona, the most affected. Torrential rains have also caused damage, although to a lesser extent, in the nearby regions of Tuscany and Umbria. Dozens of vehicles were wiped out when catastrophic flooding hit Italy’s Marche region after 16 inches of rain in just seven hours. Cantiano recorded the massive amount of rain, the second worst ever for Italy, behind 496mm of rain in the Liguria region in six hours at Montenotte in October 2021. Around 400mm (16 inches) of rain - half a year’s worth - were recorded in just a few hours. “It was like an earthquake.“ said local mayor. More than 180 firefighters are assisting in the rescue efforts, evacuating people who overnight were forced to climb
