“Source of the Nile“ Half Marathon, Uganda

The fifth edition of the “Source of the Nile“ National Half Marathon organized by Uganda Athletics Federation took place in Jinja on Sunday. Top runners from several African countries competed. Athletes from Nile Sport Safari running community also ran. Most of them are beginners and it was the first race in their lives. Running a long distance and surrounded by running celebrities made this race them even more exciting for them. At the start everyone as usual rushed up to the leaders and fell off after 2 minutes. Especially since the race course is hilly. But they caught their breath, recalled the coach’s advices and kept running at the planned pace. Nkuutu Sulaiman, Ronald Sekito, Andrew Owere and other guys finished the race in under 1:35. Shafik Damba from Buwenda, a very young runner with serious intentions, showed a result of 1:22. The strongest of all that day were Kibet Isaac clinching victory in the men’s category with a time of 1:04:48 and Annet Chelangat crossing the finish line in 1:13:50. Let us keep on training and set up new goals for this season. Our running sessions under the supervision of our coach Waiswa Lukungu and his assistant Ratib Ofuti are open for everyone willing to change their lives for better. We meet every Saturday at 8 a.m. on Nile Cres Road in front of Jinja Golf Club. You are also welcome to subscribe:
