Solar Flare Alert: Increasing Solar Flare Activity - CME to Hit Earth’s Magnetic Field on April 18th

During the past 24 hours, the sun has produced half-a-dozen M-class solar flares. Most have come from growing sunspot AR3639 near the sun’s northeastern limb. This activity is expected to continue and intensify. AR3639 has quadrupled in size since the weekend, and it is now turning toward Earth. Geoeffective solar flares are likely on April 16th. CME to Hit Earth’s Magnetic Field A faint CME left the sun on April 15th, the result of an M-class solar flare from sunspot AR3639. A NASA model predicts the CME will hit Earth’s magnetic field on April 18th. Its impact could spark a minor G1-class geomagnetic storm. #solarstorm #CME #solaflares Images credit: , SOHO/LASCO, NOAA/SWPC Music credit: YouTube Audio Library
