Leonardo da Vinci artwork makes auction history at Christie’s

A rare rediscovered painting by Renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci has become the most expensive piece of art ever sold at auction. Leonardo’s masterwork, “Salvator Mundi,“ a depiction of Christ as “Saviour of the World“, went for four times its estimated value. The artwork has gone under the hammer for a record-breaking $. It’s a far cry from 1958 when it fetched a mere 60 dollars. At the time, it was thought to be painted by a student of da Vinci, rather than the master himself. But is this a sign of renewed respect for the old masters, or the result of some savvy marketing?
