Test pilot Astakhov, a Hero of the Soviet Union, was taken prisoner during the war. After the war, he comes back home, but at home, Astakhov is expelled from the Party, fired from his job, and deprived of a government award. Astakhov becomes a drunkard, but Sasha’s love and faith in himself save him and restore his hope for justice... About the movie: In the 1970s, the film was shelved and seldom shown on film or television. The theme of Stalin’s post-war terror was clearly evident in the film, which did not correspond to the mood of the time. The film and its role in Soviet cinematography resurfaced after 1985 with the advent of perestroika.
