The Skye Boat Song is a Scottish traditional, telling the story of Bonnie Prince Charlie, the leading figure during the Jacobite Rising of 1745. His effords driving the English out of Scotland and defending the Scottish Highland culture proved futile when the Jacobite army was utterly defeated at Culloden.
