Koko the Clown in “Bubbles“ by Dave Fleischer.

Premiering in 1922 (on April 22nd) this “Out of the Inkwell“-cartoon was animated by the two Fleischer Brothers and as all the other shorts in this series it was produced by Max and directed by Dave Fleischer. Yet again we see Max Fleischer portraying a version of himself, using his magic ink to make his hand-drawn clown-companion Koko spring to life. The pair of them is distracted by some soap bubbles drifting in through an open window. Koko, presumably having never seen a real life soap-bubble, gets quite upset when the bubble bursts. In order to cheer up his pal the cartoonists makes him a bubble pipe, and fetches one for himself as well. After some warm-up the two enter a wager on who is able to produce the largest bubble, something to leads to a lot of calamities for Koko, and for the cartoonist as well. Thank you for watching!
