HMS London (1927)

Item title reads: “.“London“ Our latest 10,000 ton Cruiser, launched by Lady Mayoress of London.“ Portsmouth, Hampshire C/U of Mayoress, Lady C.A. Batho, dressed in lovely black and white hat and fur collared coat. She is seen standing near the ship carrying a large bouquet of flowers. Helped by a man in a top hat, she crashes the bottle against the ship’s hull, but it doesn’t look as if it breaks. She then takes a mallet to hammer away the restraining link. The ship glides slowly down the slipway into the water, watched by the crowds and shipyard workers. M/S ship drops anchor.
