Ruins by the River - William Beauvais (Adam Cicchillitti, guitar)

My first ever complete video production! I have spent months investing money and time in new gear, a new computer and learning the ins and outs of advanced video editing. I finally have something to show for it! I decided to make Ruins by the River my first 4K video - It is an absolutely beautiful piece that I just discovered a couple of months ago and I’ve fallen in love with. The work is written by Canadian composer William Beauvais (1956-), a man that I greatly admire. I met William at a masterclass in Ottawa organized by the CMC a number of years back and was impressed by his ability to convey simple but effective compositional strategies to young people. Ruins by the River is part of a larger work entitled Chelva Suite. In the program notes of the score Beauvais discusses his inspiration, “I walked the flora filled path beside the river Chelva several times.
