Human presence

What is a mmWave radar sensor? Millimeter-wave radar technology is a contactless sensing technology for detecting objects and providing the range, velocity and angle of those objects (in our case humans). mmWave sensors transmit signals with a wavelength in the high frequency spectrum between 24GHz and 300GHz, also called the millimeter (mm) range. Accurate Stillness and Motion Detection Compared to other human presence sensors like PIR sensors, infrared sensors, and ultrasonic sensors, mmWave sensors offer the ability to sensitively detect both activity and stillness. They also possess robust anti-interference capabilities, making them less susceptible to factors such as temperature changes, variations in ambient light, and environmental noise. The sensor can swiftly and sensitively detect the presence of a person, whether they are sitting, sleeping, or in motion. For example, in the context of a public smart restroom project, mmWave human presence sensors prove invaluable due to the complex and noisy environment typically found in such facilities. Despite these challenges, mmWave sensors can accurately and instantly monitor the occupancy status of restroom stalls. This optimization of layout and resource allocation in public restrooms enhances efficiency and improves the user experience.
