“DUCK AND COVER“ Civil Defense film from 1951

This Civil Defense short film “Duck and Cover“ was produced in New York in 1951, and shown in the public school system throughout the 1950s when the schools started installing big black and white televisions as a method of teaching. How radical for the time! I remember seeing it in grade school in the mid-fifties -- and we actually thought what they were telling us would make a difference! Can you imagine them actually thinking that hiding under a desk, or outside in a doorway, would provide any protection whatsoever in the event of a nuclear attack? Were they out of their minds?
