HALLOWEEN 🎃 👻 ….Traces its origins way back to the ancient Celtic Festival. The story follows the overthrowing of Summer by Winter, with a dramatic stand-off between the Summer and Winter Kings. This is overseen by the Cailleach, a Celtic representation of the Goddess, or Divine Hag, who ultimately decides each King’s fate and ushers in the colder months. Marking the transition from Summer to Winter, Samhuinn Fire Festival celebrates the arrival of the Celtic New Year with a dazzling mix of fire, drumming, acrobatics & theatre. Telling the story of the overthrowing of Summer by Winter, with a dramatic battle between the mythical Summer and Winter Kings, Samhuinn is a contemporary revival of the ancient Celtic celebration of the new year, told through a spectacular performance of music and dance and immersive theatre. Organised by Beltane Fire Society, this year’s event takes place under Arthur’s Seat in Holyrood Park
