US Troops To Fight On Foreign Soil In An Election Year? Why America May Get Drawn Into Israel’s War

Two US fighter jets conducted airstrikes on weapons and ammunition facilities in Syria in response to Iran-backed militia attacks on US forces amid concerns that the Israel-Hamas conflict may spread in the Middle East. The strikes targeted facilities used by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps and its supported militias. US President Joe Biden ordered the strikes and warned of additional measures if such attacks continue. The airstrikes occurred near Abu Kamal, a Syrian town on the border with Iraq, at approximately 4:30 am on October 27. “The United States does not seek conflict and has no intention to engage in further hostilities, but these Iranian-backed attacks against US forces are unacceptable and must stop,” That’s what US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said in a statement. Austin said the “narrowly-tailored strikes” were in self-defence and were not necessarily connected to the Israel-Hamas war. A total of 21 US personnel have been injured in the attacks, most of them suffering traumatic brain injuries, according to US officials. Reports of attacks on US forces in the region have spiked since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war, which began earlier this month when Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on Israel which killed more than 1,400 Israeli women, men and children. Earlier this week, US President Joe Biden said he had directly warned Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei against targeting US troops in the Middle East. #israel #biden #iran #hamasattack #israelpalestine #gaza #gazaunderattack #tehran #syria n18oc_world n18oc_crux 0:00 INTRODUCTION 1:52 RECENT ATTACKS ON US BASES IN THE MIDDLE EAST 4:16 US FORCE POSTURE IN THE MIDDLE-EAST 5:47 WHY ISRAEL MATTERS FOR US? 6:45 HOW ISRAEL INFLUENCES US POLITICS?
