5 Days of Natural Building!

The first official Mud Dauber School of Natural Building workshop of the year! This workshop took place at Cranmore Meadows, a tiny house community located near Saxapahaw, NC. Over these 5 days I had the pleasure of documenting the build, as well as getting to know a great new group of natural builders. It is amazing how people of differing backgrounds with little to no experience in construction can come together and build such a beautiful shelter in harmony with nature! This building is made up of two straw bale walls, one cob wall, and one slip straw wall. All of the round wood beams were harvested within 100 feet of the building site. All of the clay for cob, clay plaster, and slip straw was also sourced from the building site! For those interested in natural building, check out the Mud Dauber School at Here you will find dates for upcoming workshops, as well as more information about the school!
