Military Ceremony by the NVA Orchestra on State Occasions (1962) — Full HD

This documentary film (Militärisches Zeremoniell des Orchesters der NVA bei Staatsanlässen) was produced in 1962 by the Army Film Studio of the National People’s Army (NVA) in East Germany. The seven minute long film showcases the traditional Prussian drill movements that were utilized by the Military Band of the “Friedrich Engels“ Honor Guard Regiment on State Visits by foreign leaders to the GDR. The Musikkorps was led by drum major Gerhard Kienow, and the Honor Guard Company was led by Hauptmann Stolz. The original 35mm b/w film has been digitized in Full HD (1080p) resolution at 24 frames per second by the German Federal Archives (Bundesarchiv) The only known copy of this film was originally uploaded by a YouTuber named @timetravelinghistorian8341 in 2015. However this copy was a very poor standard definition / SD (480p) analogue encoding that was likely produced sometime in the 1990s before the advent of High Definition. I am very proud to say that I am the first person to have this film digitized as close as possible to its original quality.
