Touhou 19 東方獣王園 ~ Unfinished Dream of All Living Ghost (Demo) - Lunatic 1cc (Marisa)

Quick Lunatic 1cc and first impressions for the time being. Demo for the new Touhou game came out. After almost 18 years we’re actually getting a new versus Phantasmagoria-like game, who would have thought. Demo only lets you pick from 5 characters and it only seems to be 3 stages? Game seems to take more from PoDD than PoFV, as there doesn’t seem to be any real massive bullet cancel moves. Also holy shit new boss sprites (player sprites are still the same from 18 years ago though). The first thing you probably notice is how insanely tanky every single enemy is. I had to spam Marisa’s level 1 to even kill a single zako, it’s disgusting. This is probably because ability cards rear their ugly heads again and make another comeback in this. As always since the introduction of these horrible things, the game is gimped to near unplayable levels and then you have to ’unlock’ the good game mechanics before the game becomes not trash. There is also no scoring whatsoever, even though there is a chaining system? Huh? Not seeing any netplay or anything, which I really didn’t expect anyway. Maybe the Steam version will have something? Marisa seems to have inherited Chiyuri’s angled lasers, which is quite funny.
