Brett Alexander Boye - Slumber in the City

Текст с Bandcamp’а: “I wrote this about two weeks after the initial rona lockdown in March of 2020. I had this dream about a sleeping waitress who looked a bit contorted in a diner booth and as I was waking up I had the phrase “Summer in the city“ just revolving around and around in my head. So the song attempts to capture the doubt, confusion of what’s to come in the following summer (turned out to be more or less true), the eerie quiet and also how awful events like these sometimes open up possible opportunities. Black for so long like gold Everybody’s ready but no one knows why No one knows what awaits this summer in the city Everybody’s ready but no one knows why Everybody’s ready for the slumber in the city A waitress in a deep sleep In a booth she usually serves In a deep deep sleep Which she richly deserves Her aluminum like gold Time for once to sing that song That’s been brewing in her heart For far too long When she awakes from vivid dreams and stares at a still world or so it seems Then she sings..... Everybody’s ready but no one knows why No one knows what awaits this summer in the city Everybody’s ready but no one knows why from 4...3...2..., released December 15, 2020“
