Paul & Paula - Hey Paula (1963) 4K

Paul & Paula performing “Hey Paula“, released originally in 1963. It reached #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the US Hot R&B Singles chart. “Hey Paula“ was written by Ray Hildebrand, who formed the duo with Jill Jackson. The pair were students at Howard Payne College when they volunteered to perform at a benefit concert for the American Cancer Society. Their performance of “Hey Paula“ was so well-received that they were encouraged to record the song. Hildebrand and Jackson visited LeCam Records in Fort Worth, Texas, hoping for an unscheduled audition. After an opportunity arose due to another artist not showing up, they recorded “Hey Paula“ with producer Major Bill Smith. The song was initially released on LeCam as by Jill & Ray, but after it caught the attention of Mercury Records’ Shelby Singleton, it was reissued on its Phillips subsidiary with the duo renamed as Paul & Paula. “Hey Paula“ sold nearly two million copies early in 1963. Paul & Paula followed up with “Young Lovers“ and “First Quarrel,“ along with a couple of albums, including one of Christmas songs. The original version of “Hey Paula“ ran over six minutes, but parts were cut to create the follow-up song, “Young Lovers.“ Stereo mix by @radiowollaton8521 Enjoy more of the best 1960s Music Digitally Remastered in 4K: Listen to Paul & Paula online: Spotify - iTunes - Classic Hits Studio is a specialized digital remastering studio based in New Zealand.
