Supro Shootout: Vintage Royal Reverb vs. New Royal Reverb 1650RT | Reverb Demo Video
We’re back with another Supro Shootout, this time pitting the mid-60s vintage Royal Reverb 1650RTA against its modern counterpart, the 1650RT Royal Reverb. Both are 2x10 combos absolutely dripping with that classic, tube-driven Supro tone, but there are quite a few differences as well. The vintage Royal Reverb uses two channels and its classic tremolo-after-reverb signal chain for a good, accurate ‘60s crunch. However, the 1650RT sports a 3-way switchable power scheme, using two different rectifiers that give you tons of headroom and affect the tremolo noticeably. So which one wins? Let us know what you think in the comments.
