How to use and install a kayak rudder to operate as a skeg.

Install a Smart Track rudder blade assembly to operate as a skeg that are normally found on paddle boards and or sea kayaks. The primary purpose of a skeg is to keep your traveling straight in the water and help prevent weather cockering. Weather -cockering is the event of turning the front of your kayak into the direction that the wind is blowing. This event can leave the kayaker helpless to control their kayak. Having a stationary rudder blade maintains the direction of the kayak and resit the energy from the weather-cockering force. Since installed on my Swell 14 kayak the boat travel straight in the water and overcomes the forces of weather-cockering. This is a good alternative for those that do not want a traditional rudder assembly. Special thank to Jim Marsh from Swell Watercraft and his associate Andrew for all their help with my installation.
