I left Russia 1 year ago after the start of the “special military operation“, and during that year Russia has implemented a lot of new laws that limit freedom of speech and any sort of dissent or disagreement with the Russian government or Russian propaganda. During this year there have been many cases of people being imprisoned or fined for voicing their opinion, and now the Russian people are very paranoid and are scared to speak out. In today’s video we’re going to talk about 3 cases of censorship and persecution in Russia that happened recently: from a man sent to jail for making a joke about Putin to police raids on popular bars. We’ll also talk about the story of Masha Moskaleva - a 12 year old girl from Russia who made a pro-Ukraine drawing in school, and as a result her father is currently in jail and Masha might be sent to an orphanage. It’s truly crazy stuff, and I believe it’s important to share these stories so that people know the reality of Russia and to show that “Russians don’t protest“ isn’t a very true statement.
