The Best DX7 Presets - Bass Patches

I have auditioned hundreds of Yamaha DX7 presets and chosen my favorites. Here are eight of the best bass presets. I recorded them both with an original DX7 as well as the Dexed plug-in for comparison. In my rig, I often use Dexed to double the hardware instrument or for a more portable version of my setup for live performance. It does have a different sound though, so I included both. Recording Method: 1. I improvised riffs for each patch while capturing the performance as video and MIDI. 2. I tightened up the timing and a few of the notes in the MIDI. 3. I recorded audio for three versions of each performance (DX7 with effects, DX7 direct, and Dexed with effects) 4. Then I synced the audio back to the video capture to make the video you see here. Sorry about the shaky camera. The tripod was touching the keyboard stand! I’ll try to avoid that in the future. Note that Dexed is in Modern (24bit) mode. There is a Mark I mode that is supposed to be closer to the original
