making: 3d printed adjustable xenharmonic fretboard + first try (11ed3)
fixed my old 3d printer( these are old already?)
removed my previous attempt to modify the fretboard without damaging it.
time lapse video shows all the process! the tuning taked longer. I used SFINX ( ), which is a program I created specifically for this. helps learning xen fretboards.
I am using 11ed3~7ed2. these tunings are semi-convergent, that means they almost match. 11 equal divisions of 3 =~ 7 divisions of 2.
the frets are positioned and first tuned to 11ed3, but then I tune it by octave on some strings so you have a different 11ed3 in each string slightly moved. I don’t know why this way, i prefer useful octaves.
I played a bit and then added the synths sounds, which are perfectly tuned, so it helps the guitar which still needs some fine adjustments.
then I played a part of “Serpens requiem“
take a listen to it!
frets should be aligned since the tuning is an equal division tuning, the misalignment is only to compensate for the old strings which are really bad, see how much I had to add! (to the 2nd string)
sorry for the last video and it’s quality ,haha that’s all I have right now!
modeled in blender, printed with PLA on a generic prusa, mounted on a squier stratocaster!
edit: for those who wanted to try this! here, have fun
