In the Hindustani tradition, the Dhrupad is the oldest form of vocal and instrumental music and the Dagars come from one of the oldest schools of Dhrupad. Baha-Ud-Din Dagar, a virtuoso exponent of the Dagar gharana of dhrupad, features in this album. He plays the rudraveena, an ancient instrument, with a contemporary sensibility, while presenting his renditions of Raga Ahir Bhairav and Raga Bageshree.
