From the cradle of animation comes a dark anime take on the old Ant and the Grasshopper fable. There is a strong focus on the pitiful here. The large millipede carcass being dragged around in the summer portions of this adds a pathos to the most lively scenes. The butterflies and the frog, while presented as somewhat unlikable early on are never completely demonized. This makes it more unnerving to watch when they begin to suffer and starve to death.
